What's The Deal With Reels? (Reels/Shorts Series)
Those short videos seem to create careers and brands out of nowhere. Are you going to get your slice of the pie?

Well HI! Happy New Year from us!
The new dawn has risen in more ways than one.
It’s time for a new topic!
(We’re finally done yapping your ear off about market research!)
This month we’re covering a more fun side of marketing your brand - short-form video (aka reels or shorts)
Reels aren’t new.
(Neither are shorts 🩳 - HA.)
But the wave and demand for them are increasing in the same way.
Most social platforms support some form of short video…
…And almost all allow video in some form - but we’re talking shorts this month.
What should we cover in January?December is all about market research. How should we start the new year? |
Reaching Further With Reels
File this away for later: reach is the most important metric to track.
Why?
Reach will always increase alongside engagement and subscribers (exponentially).
Reels are “pushed content” because they force data producers users to stay on the platform longer.
(It makes sense when you break it down. 🕺)
Since that’s the goal of social media, they’ve invested in algorithms that’ll show your content to people who are interested in it right now or in the future (or recent past, but we don’t care about that) to increase watch time.
That means:
Everyone who’s about to buy a home…
Everyone knee-deep in therapy…
Everyone that’s obsessed with novelty…
…Can be targeted for your reel to come across the for you page.
The Reels Content Concept
Reels aren’t direct sales assets.
They’re more for fun and brand awareness (which leads to sales).
Brand awareness fills the top of your pipeline (awareness - boom mind blown).
But unlike other brand awareness tactics like billboards, ads, and all that jazz, this has the possibility of virality.
Content that speaks to watchers rarely has a sales focus.
(And it’s never direct.)
Instead, we’ll create a social selling situation through stories and let sales be a passenger princess for a while.
